The Holland Track

4 wheel drive track Broomehill to Coolgardie.

21st June 2019

Join us for a 4 day off road adventure following in the footsteps of the early gold prospectors as they made their way from Albany to the goldfields of Coolgardie.

This trip is  2 nights camping/one night accommodated: all meals, camping and motel costs included.

Itinerary

Day 1

We meet at Kojonup at 8.00am before departing for Broomehill and the start of the Holland Track.

From there we travel to Nowernalup Tank, one of John Holland’s first stops and walk in to view the commemorative plaque.

We lunch somewhere on the road and stop at spots of significance, such as Holland Rock, Silver wattle Hill and Dragon Rocks, tracing Holland’s steps and examining the water sources he found. Some of the gnamma holes might still have their original capping on them.

Our overnight stop is at Hyden and we camp at Wave Rock Caravan Park (optional cabin upgrade if available)

Inclusions: Lunch and Dinner, Camping fees

Day 2

Leaving Hyden, we travel back to the Holland Track and take some time to stop at as many of Holland’s camps as possible.

Emu Rocks, the view from Mt Holland, Agnes Gnamma Hole, Diamond and Thursday Rocks, and Pigeon Hole are all potential sites that we will try and explore, depending on time/accessibility.

Tonight is a bush camp, somewhere along the Track.

Inclusions: breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 3

Victoria Rock is a magnificent example of the rockholes of the Holland Track.

On our way to Coolgardie and the end of the Track, we visit Gnarlbine Rock which was one of the principal water sources for the original Coolgardie goldrush at Bailey’s Find.

We visit the pioneer graveyard at Coolgardie and search for the graves of John Holland and his wife Agnes.

Time permitting, we travel out to Burra Rocks/Cave Hill Reserve and take in more examples of the significance of the granite gnamma rockholes and their importance in opening up this area to explorers, prospectors and farmers.

We overnight at Coolgardie, in a motel.

Inclusions: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner, motel accommodation

Day 4

After a relaxed breakfast, it’s time to start heading back home. We arrive back at Kojonup late afternoon.

Inclusions: Breakfast and Lunch
